Editorial Internship: Cleveland Custom Media

Cleveland Magazine’s custom media division seeks editorial interns for all academic semesters. We invite current students who are majoring in communications, English, journalism, marketing or related fields of study, as well as recent graduates, to apply for consideration three times per year.

 

Application Deadlines:

• Winter/Spring: November 15
• Summer: April 17
• Fall: July 17

 

This is an unpaid internship. However, we reimburse transportation costs for parking or bus passes. We are seeking candidates who are available 16-20 hours per week. Scheduling and hours are flexible.

Responsibilities:

Intern responsibilities include learning about fact checking, researching, copy editing and writing short feature stories. Our interns are highly valued, integrated into the editorial team and in some cases, help play a contributing role in our division’s content. They are given plenty of opportunity for professional development. Other learning opportunities include participating in editorial meetings and the process of creating publications from start to finish.

Qualifications:

We are looking for intellectually curious journalists with experience at their college newspaper or magazine. The ideal candidate has a flair for magazine-style writing, knowledge of AP style and spelling, punctuation, grammar, phone skills and familiarity with Northeast Ohio. Candidates also should possess a strong work ethic, be punctual and reliable.
